Following the successful introduction of the oval-shaped KiXoo{TM} Breeder Hen Feeder, ROXELL® USA is using the coming International Poultry Exposition as an occasion to launch a similar feeder for breeder pullets into the North American and Latin American poultry markets. The feeder, named Vitoo{TM}, is ROXELL's new feeding system for raising broiler breeders. Breeder producers welcomed the two extra feeding spaces permitted by the KiXoo Feeder's oval shape and ROXELL used the same feature to design the Vitoo Feeder for feeding broiler breeder pullets. For the North American and Latin American markets, each pan has 16 feeding spaces and serves up to 64 birds per nine feet (2.7 meters) of feeder length, thus supplying up to 58% more eating space than a traditional trough chain feeder. Vitoo optimizes the feeding opportunities for starting day-old birds. The feed windows allow an excellent filling of the pans to guarantee that the chicks find the feed immediately. The low pan rim height and the wide grill openings give day olds comfortable access to their feed. Within a couple days, the young birds start eating from the outside of the pan, lining up neatly around it. An easy-to-use shut-off slide on the pans enables producers to do partial-house brooding. The new ROXELL feeder also promotes uniform feed distribution. All pans on the feeder's circuit fill up simultaneously with equal small portions (10.5 ounces/300 grams) of feed. The new feeder uses ROXELL's combination of two separate feed collectors, the inner and the outer pan, to promote uniformity and minimize waste. The feed capacity of the inner pan is designed to hold only 10.5 ounces (300 grams) to guarantee that inner pans are kept full during the feeding cycle. As birds eat, any feed dropped from the inner pan is collected in the outer pan making the risk of waste practically non-existent. Integrated anti-swing inserts on the tubes prevent the pans from swinging thus keeping the feed in the center of the pan. During the design process for this new ROXELL feeder, a lot of attention went toward developing down-to-earth management of the Vitoo System to offer ease of use and labor savings. All features are designed for simple operation to save labor costs. Some of the features of the Vitoo Feeder include: • The handy feed adjuster ring allows an easy and precise adjustment of the feed level in the inner pan. The level can now be set in 1/25-inch (1-mm) increments. • The standard ROXELL control panel is easy to operate and allows manual feeding during the first two weeks of rearing. Breeder producers can optimize their feeding management by choosing a ROXELL control panel with a built-in feed computer. • The control pan is equipped with a reliable sensor to regulate the automatic feed distribution until the daily feed portion is completely distributed during restricted feeding. • The pans have a solid hinge for comfortable cleaning without removing the pans. • The Vitoo Feeder can be winched up, either manually or automatically. This allows raising the lines easily according to the growth of the birds, or automatically closing the feed windows after the starting period. Raising the feeder lines also makes it easier to clean the feeder system and the house after removal of the flock. • All pan parts were also developed to comply with current animal care standards. • The feeder is manufactured using a durable UV-stabilized plastic that resists commonly used cleansing agents and detergents. • The Vitoo Feeder pans carry a 10-year guarantee.
